Focused Expertise

We specialize in representing insurance regulators and have deep experience assisting with the full range of their responsibilities, including insurer formation, change of control, redomestication, supervision/examination and delinquency proceedings.  In this work, we represent insurance regulators as supervisors, rehabilitators and liquidators of property-casualty, life and health insurers, ranging from single-member risk retention groups to billion-dollar international insurance companies.

We have also acted on behalf of regulators from every United States jurisdiction in single- or multistate targeted market conduct examinations of property/casualty, life/health and specialty writers.

Our insurance regulatory attorneys have substantial expertise in administrative law, complex coverage analysis/litigation and financial analysis.

Results

Our strong track record of success.

  • Represent the domiciliary liquidators of large national and international insurers regarding initiation of delinquency proceedings, establishment and implementation of liquidation plans, determination of complex claims, and recovery of reinsurance proceeds and other estate assets.
  • Serve as examiner-in-charge for multistate and single-state targeted market conduct examinations involving writers of workers compensation, general liability, force-placed, disability, life, long-term care, specialty, and other lines of insurance.
  • Advise insurance regulators regarding the operation and oversight of residual market mechanisms, guaranty associations and other statutory entities.
  • Serve as deputy rehabilitator/liquidator, assisting regulators with the delinquency proceeding for risk retention groups, captive insurers, protected cells and other troubled entities.
  • Represent clients in both trial and appellate litigation (state and federal) in multiple jurisdictions.
  • Counsel select insurers, producers and corporate clients regarding general business operations, mergers/acquisitions, compliance and other matters.
