On May 1, 2022, Davis Malm shareholder Dan Janis completed his quest to run a marathon in every U.S. state. Dan ran his first marathon in Burlington, Vermont back in 2007, and 15 years and 1,310 miles later, he crossed the marathon finish line in his 50th state, the 2022 Eugene Marathon in Oregon.

Dan, who celebrated the completion of his quest with a “Danapallooza” marathon bash with close family and friends, said, “Crossing the final finish line after a 15-year journey was incredible. I’m grateful for all the support I’ve received along the way, from my family, friends and Davis Malm colleagues. Now everyone’s asking, ‘what next?’ I’ve started the challenge over again – completing a second, different marathon in every state. I’m five states in – let’s see where this goes!”

In addition to being an avid marathon runner, Dan is a four-star member of the Marathon Maniacs, a running club for marathoners looking for next-level challenges. To qualify as a member, a runner must complete two marathons in 16 days or three within 90 days. Dan earned his fourth star after completing two marathons in two days.

Dan extends his passion for running to charitable endeavors. He was previously a member of the American Heart Association/Lawyers Have Heart 5K Executive Leadership Committee to raise funds to benefit the American Heart Association and American Stroke Association, whose mission is to build healthier lives, free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke. He also organizes a number of running events to serve his local community.
