On October 18, shareholder Richard L. Sampson, competed in Boston’s 60th annual Head Of The Charles® Regatta (HOCR). Representing the HOCR host organization, Cambridge Boat Club, Rich’s team placed third out of 26 teams competing in the Men’s Veteran Eights (60+) category with a time of 16:22:860.

Rich has a long history of competing at the HOCR and has held leadership positions with the race organization for more than 25 years. He has been a member of the Board of Directors and a managing director, and he currently serves as co-chair of the HOCR’s Course Committee, which is responsible for installing and removing the course for the three-day race.

“I’ve been rowing for decades and each fall, I look forward to reuniting with my crew and competing with people from around the world who share the same passion,” said Rich. “The camaraderie and sportsmanship among rowers of all ages and abilities make the event truly inspiring.”

The HOCR was founded in 1965 and is the world’s largest rowing race, regularly fielding more than 11,000 athletes from around the world to compete in a full line-up of sculling and sweep rowing events. A must-attend race for world-class and Olympian rowers, competitors range from young adult rowers to veteran athletes in their 90s. The HOCR is hosted by the Cambridge Boat Club, which was established in 1909 to encourage boating and yachting in Boston.
