Rob Munnelly moderated the Northeast Energy and Commerce Association (NECA) webinar, “Current Trends in Retail Marketing to C&I Customers: Opportunities & Challenges.”

The panelists for the webinar highlighted the non-electric challenges faced by C&I suppliers and consumers including mandatory and voluntary renewables requirements, transitions to electrification and away from natural gas, and other state and local conservation and sustainability requirements.  The panel covered topics including tips for helping customers respond to regionwide high prices and quickly evolving climate change goals that lead to aggressive renewables requirements, fuel transitions caused by New England region-wide electrification initiatives, and societal efforts to move towards carbon neutrality.

“Discussing current trends in any market is an important fixture for success. Keeping up with a highly competitive and aggressively regulated market adds another layer of challenges. NECA gives members the opportunity to learn more about issues and keep up with current trends, and I am proud to be part of this valuable organization,” said Rob.

Rob was joined by panelists Marissa Gillett, Chair of the Connecticut Public Utilities Regulatory Authority (PURA), Thomas McCarthy, Sales Director of Engie North America, and Jon Weaver, President and CEO of Massachusetts Biomedical Initiatives (MBI).

Rob has been an active participant in NECA events and conferences since 2001. He is currently a member of NECA’s Board of Directors and serves as Co-Chair of the Retail Markets Committee and the Executive Committee as Corporate Secretary.

Founded in 1985, NECA is New England’s largest non-profit competitive power trade association. Serving the electric power industry and providers of related emerging technologies, NECA’s mission is to promote a reliable, environmentally responsible and cost-effective regional power supply, including innovative demand-side initiatives and renewable energy.
