On September 21, Courtney Simmons volunteered at The Food Project’s West Cottage Farm in Dorchester, MA as part of a Boston Bar Association (BBA) Environmental Law Pro Bono and Public Service Committee community service event. Courtney and fellow volunteers collaborated with local youth to complete a variety of hands-on farming tasks, including planting, weeding and harvesting.

Courtney was recently appointed Co-Chair of the Environmental Law Pro Bono and Public Service Committee, a subset of the BBA’s Environmental and Energy Law Section. Courtney, along with her fellow Co-Chair Olympia Bowker, an associate at the Boston law firm McGregor & Legere, will coordinate a number of annual service events as well as practice-specific pro bono projects and brown bag programming. As a Section member, she will also help shape environmental policy through a close working relationship with the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection.

The Food Project is a Massachusetts-based non-profit organization whose mission is to create a thoughtful and productive community of youth and adults from diverse backgrounds who work together to build a sustainable food system.
