On March 6, Davis Malm attorney Chris Marino served as a judge for the 2013-2014 Boston Regional National Appellate Advocacy Competition (NAAC). The event, hosted by the American Bar Association Law Student Division, emphasized the development of oral advocacy skills through a realistic appellate advocacy experience. Students participated in a hypothetical appeal to the United States Supreme Court, which included writing a brief and arguing the case before a mock court. This year’s competition focused on labor law, and competitors examined the difference between “use” and “access” under the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act and whether a law student intern qualifies as an “employee” under the Fair Labor Standards Act.
