Anthony Panebianco served as a judge for the American Bar Association’s (ABA) 2024-25 National Appellate Advocacy Regional Competition (NAAC), February 27 – March 1, 2025. Produced by the ABA Law Student Division, this moot court competition emphasizes the development of oral advocacy skills through a realistic appellate advocacy experience. This is Anthony’s fifth time judging the NAAC competition.

Moot court competitors participate in a hypothetical appeal to the United States Supreme Court. The competition involves writing a brief as either respondent or petitioner and then arguing the case in front of the mock court. These practical skills competitions offer law students an opportunity to hone the skills that they will use as a practitioner through intraschool, regional, and national competitions. This year’s topic was the Fourth Amendment. Only law students who are candidates for a JD degree are eligible to participate per ABA rules.
