Davis Malm shareholder Sandy Moskowitz has been appointed to the Supreme Judicial Court (SJC) Standing Committee on Pro Bono Legal Services for a three-year term, effective January 2024. Sandy and fellow members of the committee will help promote and encourage volunteer legal work in Massachusetts to help people of limited means who need legal representation.

Deeply committed to community service and equal justice, Sandy led the effort to create the Housing Court Lawyer for a Day program, for which he was awarded the Denis Maguire Pro Bono Award in 2010 and the Adams Pro Bono Publico Award by the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court in 2006. He has also served as Chair of the Massachusetts Equal Justice Coalition, which conducts an annual Walk to the Hill lobbying campaign to support state funding for civil legal aid. He was also a long-standing member of the Board of Directors and Executive Committee of Greater Boston Legal Services.

Established in August 1999, the SJC Standing Committee on Pro Bono Legal Services works to promote volunteer legal work to assist people of limited means who need legal representation, in accordance with Rule 6.1, Voluntary Pro Bono Publico Service (“for the public good”) of the Massachusetts Rules of Professional Conduct (Supreme Judicial Court Rule 3:07). The committee also works with law schools, bar associations, and other stakeholders to encourage pro bono service throughout the Commonwealth.
