On January 25, 2018, shareholders Larry Casey and Rich Sampson presented a “Protect It” seminar as part of the New England Business Association’s event series, “Life Cycle of Change at a Small Business.” The series is organized by the Association’s Technology & Innovation Committee, of which Larry is a member, and the Protect It seminar was hosted at Davis Malm’s office.

Larry moderated the program, and Mr. Sampson served as a panelist. They were joined by Don Lander, project manager with OCD Tech and Arron Lavespere, business consultant at Connell & Curley Insurance Agency. The program addressed the challenges that small business executives face when trying to protect their IP, money, and network security. Panelists reviewed and explored various methods of protecting against piracy, breach of confidentially, and cyber-attacks through the use of technology, insurance, and legal protection.

The New England Business Association, formerly known as the Smaller Business Association of New England (SBANE), was founded in 1938 as a private not-for-profit association of approximately 600 member companies located throughout the six-state region. SBANE was initially established to provide a legislative voice for small business at the state and federal levels and to make practical information available to help business owners grow their companies. In 2017, SBANE rebranded as New England Business Association and embarked on an expanded mission to enhance the support, resources, and networking it provides to its members.
