On June 15th, Davis Malm Shareholder Sandy Moskowitz was elected as a Vice President of the Greater Boston Legal Services (GBLS) Board of Directors and reelected to its Executive Committee. In his role as an officer, Sandy will continue his work to advance GBLS’ mission to provide high-quality legal representation to low-income individuals and families in the Greater Boston area.

A longtime GBLS supporter and active Board Member, Sandy said, “I am honored to be part of an organization with such a strong history of supporting the disenfranchised. In a time of diminished public resources, it is more critical than ever to enforce the basic legal rights of our most vulnerable citizens to protect their housing, incomes and safety.”

For over 30 years, Sandy has dedicated himself to supporting civil legal aid. He began as an attorney for Birmingham Area Legal Services in Alabama. From 2010 to 2013, Sandy served as Chair of the Massachusetts Equal Justice Coalition and led the organization’s efforts to increase state funding for legal aid programs facing increased demand and the loss of other funding during the recession. For over ten years, he also led a committee that created and operated the Boston Bar Association Lawyer for a Day Program at the Boston Housing Court. In 2006, Sandy was awarded the Adams Pro Bono Publico Award by the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court for his work on this program, which has been a model both in assisting low income litigants and in relieving the great burden pro se litigants have on the court.
