On February 25, Davis Malm shareholder Tamsin Kaplan presented “Employment Law Essentials” as part of the Massachusetts Bar Association’s Continuing Legal Education program, “Lifecycle of a Business Part III: Employment & Business Litigation Matters.” The presentation was part of the Business Law Section Council’s four-part educational series on establishing, operating and concluding Massachusetts business entities, and addressed the broad spectrum of legal and practical issues confronted by businesses at each stage of their development. The program was designed for experienced business lawyers, as well as new practitioners, and focused on common legal problems related to employment and commercial litigation. Tamsin discussed topics such as wage claims and independent contractor issues, drafting employee handbooks, negotiation of severance agreements, wrongful termination and discrimination claims, and traps for the unwary employer in offer letters, contracts and workplace management.
