Director of Information Technology

The Director of Information Technology is responsible for Davis Malm’s IT operations and infrastructure, implementing scalable IT solutions to improve and grow the firm’s operational capacity. The Director of IT works closely with firm leadership to strategize long-term IT plans to mitigate the impact of changing technology and to improve infrastructure, ensuring cost-effective execution of systems and services. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter able to take initiative.

Required Skills

  • Significant experience with Windows desktop and server administration, Active Directory, and Microsoft Exchange administration
  • Experience with VMWare virtualization and managing remote users and a remote environment
  • Experience contracting with and overseeing IT vendors and service providers
  • Experience supporting and training users using Microsoft Office
  • The ability and desire to take on both a strategic and “hands on” role

Desired Skills

  • Experience installing, configuring and managing firewalls, routers and switches
  • Knowledge of security best practices and experience with intrusion detection systems, enterprise virus and malware scanning, and general network monitoring
  • Experience with backup and disaster recovery processes and tools
  • Experience with document management and collaboration tools
  • Strong communication skills (both oral and written)
  • Ability to explain technical concepts to inexperienced users
  • Strong organizational, teamwork and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work with limited supervision and technical direction

Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of firm’s IT infrastructure, including network, servers, desktops, remote access, mobile devices, and phone system
  • Maintain 24×7 availability of critical applications and network resources
  • Plan and execute upgrades and migrations, including selection and implementation of new services and technology
  • Implement and maintain security controls necessary to safeguard the firm’s systems and data
  • Develop and maintain up-to-date documentation for all IT infrastructure and IT policies and procedures
  • Manage vendor relationships, technology procurements, track and process technology invoices
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of technology trends, including those affecting the legal industry, researching and recommending new products and services to meet business needs
  • Provide technical support for 60+ users including installation and configuration of computer hardware, software, mobile devices, and peripherals
  • Train users on firm software as needed, including new hires
  • Other duties as assigned.

Salary: Commensurate with experience.
