Practice Focus and Experience
Carol Cohen practices in the Business Law and Litigation areas. Carol's practice involves civil litigation in state and federal courts. Her cases have dealt with many areas of the law, including antitrust, licensing, franchises, fiduciary duties, contracts, including employment contracts, shareholder derivative suits and RICO. In addition to her litigation skills, Carol has experience in corporate transactional law, which she brings to bear in structuring settlements and proposed judgments. Carol also represents individuals and companies in disputes concerning business and family relationships. She was part of our team that represented the winning plaintiffs in the famous and infamous Demoulas litigation. These cases were resolved over a ten-year period and are believed to have resulted in the largest judgment ever achieved in Massachusetts history.
Representative Matters
- Colead counsel in the Demoulas case, which was recently selected
by Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly as one of "The 30 Most Memorable
Cases of the Last 30 Years."
- Successfully arbitrated a patent royalty dispute regarding a medical
device that entitles our client, the inventor of the device, to future
royalties valued at $25 million to $60 million over the life of the patent.
- Successfully prosecuted a Rule 10b-5 stock fraud case involving a coal
tax advantage limited partnership and won a reversal of the 2nd Circuit
Court of Appeals in the United States Supreme Court.
- Successfully settled a 40-year-old shareholder claim for $4.5 million.
