Practice Focus and Experience


Jim Gallagher practices in the Litigation area and focuses mostly on business, corporate, and commercial litigation. He practices in both state and federal court. Prior to joining Davis Malm, Jim served as an officer and judge advocate in the United States Marine Corps. While stationed in Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii, Jim served as a prosecutor and defense attorney. He also served as a Special Assistant US Attorney for the US Attorney's Office for the District of Hawaii. As a judge advocate, Jim engaged in motions practice, trial preparation, and the prosecution and defense of multiple complex contested criminal trials.

  • Successfully represented a non-profit organization in recovering funds embezzled by its former chief financial officer.
  • Representation of owner concerning lapse of special permit for large, residential development.
  • Representation of a real estate developer in a dispute regarding an alleged restriction on title restraining client's right to develop the land.
