Tobacco Litigation

We specialize in the representation of individuals who have become addicted to smoking and are seriously ill as a result of the illegal practices of cigarette manufacturers. Our firm was the first in the nation to win a jury verdict on behalf of an individual who became addicted because a cigarette manufacturer distributed free cigarettes to young children. The jury returned a verdict of $152 million against Lorillard Tobacco Co., the third largest cigarette manufacturer in the world. This was the largest jury verdict of any kind in Massachusetts in 2010 and the third largest verdict to an individual in the United States in 2010.

Our seasoned attorneys continue their pioneering practice representing plaintiffs in tobacco litigation. We have developed relationships with renowned scientific experts in this field and work collaboratively with them to fulfill our commitments to our clients. We combine our resources, energy, and dedication with compassion for our clients and thus have the ability to take on major firms and cigarette manufacturers in a massive defensive legal campaign. Our team in this area includes an attorney who is an elected Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and the International Academy of Trial Lawyers, was named a "Best Lawyers in America" for 2011 in Personal Injury Litigation, is a member of the Tobacco Trial Lawyers' Association, and testified before the Federal Trade Commission on a proposal to ban menthol cigarettes. This attorney as well as another senior team member have both been named Massachusetts Super Lawyers every year since 2004, the first year of the distinction in Massachusetts.
