Practice Focus and Experience


Steve Pike practices in the Business Law area focusing primarily on venture capital and private equity transactions, mergers and acquisitions, and general corporate law. He represents companies and venture capital and private equity funds in equity and debt financings, recapitalizations, restructurings, acquisitions, and exits. Steve also represents buyers and sellers in strategic mergers and acquisitions. As general outside counsel to various companies, his practice includes advising management teams and boards of directors on, among other things, entity formation, commercial contracts and disputes, joint ventures, corporate governance, strategic alliances and collaborations, and employment and equity compensation arrangements.

Steve has represented privately held businesses and publicly traded companies as well as angel investors and venture capital fund syndicates. These clients are located in the United States as well as Canada, the United Kingdom, Sweden, Germany, the Netherlands, France, Australia, and Singapore and include television networks, telecommunications hardware developers, software developers, medical device companies, wireless network developers, power generation companies, consumer and construction products companies, mobile telecommunications companies, website content developers, an HVAC distributor, a distributive power company, and a market research and consulting firm.

Representative Matters


  • Representation of a telecommunications hardware company with operations in the U.S. and Germany and stockholders in the U.S., U.K., Germany, Belgium, and Switzerland. Representation has included more than a dozen equity and convertible and venture debt financings for an aggregate of more than $120 million.
  • Representation of a venture capital fund in its equity investments in a mobile messaging company and in a wireless communications provider.
  • Representation of a publicly traded consumer products company in a $45 million acquisition of all of the stock of a similar privately held company.
  • Representation of a Singapore public company in its joint venture with a U.S. company to develop and market hardware and software products for postal, courier, and logistics markets.
