On November 15, Brian J. Coughlin, Of Counsel to Davis Malm, participated on the Boston Bar Association (BBA) panel, “Current Challenges in Immigration Law,” presented by the Massachusetts Association of Hispanic Attorneys. The panel discussed present trends in U.S. business immigration, the legislative agenda, and best practices in immigration court and removal defense.
Additionally, Mr. Coughlin was recently named Co-Chair of the BBA’s Business Immigration Law Section. In this role, Mr. Coughlin will examine issues relating to employer representation and compliance in connection with U.S. business visas and work permits, including Labor Certification (PERM), nonimmigrant visa petitions (H-1B, L, TN etc.), and employment-based Lawful Permanent Residence.
Mr. Coughlin practices in the Business Law area at Davis Malm, focusing on U.S. immigration and global workforce mobility. He counsels established and emerging corporate clients on immigration issues related to employment authorization, company policy drafting, employee training, and general enforcement and regulatory compliance issues. He also advises on immigration due diligence and risk management in connection with corporate mergers, acquisitions, restructuring, and startups.
