Davis Malm was pleased to sponsor the Boston Modern Orchestra Project’s closing concert of its 15th season, Sangita: The Sprit of India, featuring works by contemporary composers influenced by Indian music. The performance took place on Friday, May 27 at Jordan Hall and featured world-premier performances of new orchestral works composed by Peter Child, Vineet Shende, and Evan Ziporyn in tandem with rarely performed orchestral music by John Foulds. The composers and world-renowned tabla player and Silk Road Project ensemble member, Sandeep Das, played music that combined traditional Indian music with western techniques from a range of compositional styles and time periods.

Founded in 1996, the Boston Modern Orchestra Project is widely recognized as the leading orchestra in the United States dedicated exclusively to performing new music, and its signature record label, BMOP/sound, is the nation’s foremost label launched by an orchestra and solely devoted to new music recordings. Davis Malm attorney Sam Mawn-Mahlau serves on the orchestra’s board of trustees.
