On September 15, Davis Malm shareholder William F. Griffin, Jr. served as a discussion leader for the Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education (MCLE) program Practicing with Professionalism. This program is required for all lawyers newly-admitted to the Massachusetts bar on or after September 1, 2013, and is coordinated by the SJC’s Standing Advisory Committee on Professionalism. The one-day program is the fourth of five sessions offered by MCLE and enables participants to build a foundation in professionalism that will serve them throughout their careers. Mr. Griffin and three other panelists led a Q&A discussion during the Real Estate/Business Law lunchtime program. This informal format offered a networking and mentoring opportunity for new lawyers to interact and facilitate conversations with professionals in their desired practice area.
Bill Griffin practices in the Business Law and Real Estate and Environmental areas. He primarily represents privately owned and publicly held businesses in a variety of business and real estate transactions. He has also acted as bond counsel in many tax-exempt bond financings. Mr. Griffin has extensive experience with sophisticated business, financial, and real estate transactions; and has briefed and argued numerous appellate cases in the U.S. Supreme Court, the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court, the Massachusetts Appeals Court and the Maine Supreme Court. He has conducted or been a panelist at various MCLE seminars, and has authored a variety of publications on topics including tax-exempt bonds, corporate organization, and negotiation and tax aspects of mergers and acquisitions.
